Gill amassed 754 runs with four centuries in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, finishing as the top run-scorer of the series, while Siraj claimed 23 wickets, making him the leading wicket-taker.
Gill also impressed in the IPL 2025, scoring 650 runs in 15 matches for Gujarat Titans. However, selectors are expected to stick with the in-form opening duo of Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson. Even as a backup opener, Gill may not find a place, with Yashasvi Jaiswal favored for that role.
Asia Cup: The middle-order options under consideration include Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Rinku Singh. All-rounders Shivam Dube and Washington Sundar are in strong contention, while Shreyas Iyer could also face exclusion. For the wicketkeeping department, Jitesh Sharma is likely to secure the second slot behind the primary keeper.
