Cricketers Who Gave Up Alcohol: Fitness is much more important to cricket than it always was. Cricket players and sportsmen in general place a great priority on being healthy in order to continue competing at the international level. Even in Indian cricket, there has been a general tendency toward players being fitter and preparing to give more than their all on the field.
5 Indian players who have previously been caught smoking and drinking:
Virat Kohli
The most physically fit Indian player, Virat Kohli, has occasionally been caught smoking at parties and other events in the past. After a lacklustre IPL 2012, Kohli came to understand the importance of establishing a healthy routine. He thus made the decision to alter his dietary patterns in order to survive in all game modes. However, prior to 2012, Kohli himself was occasionally spotted drinking at IPL events.
KL Rahul
KL Rahul, one of India’s top limited-overs run scorers, has advanced far in his international career. The Karnataka player, however, has been associated with several off-field problems. Rahul posted a picture on social media showing him holding a beer bottle during India’s tour to the West Indies. Before the BCCI instructed him to take down the post, his photograph attracted a lot of negative feedback.
Sachin Tendulkar
Even Sachin Tendulkar, a name that would surprise most of you, was once seen drinking alcohol with his close buddy Vinod Kambli. The “Master Blaster” was spotted drinking a beer with Kambli early in his professional career. Even though he was one of the Indian team’s most concentrated players, he consented to drink it as a means of unwinding from the game.
Yuvraj Singh
Yuvraj Singh frequently appeared to be out having fun with his close friends and family during his playing career. He was once seen drinking from a glass at a gathering attended by some of the biggest names in Bollywood. Singh, who is one of India’s all-time best ODI players, found his name associated with some of the scandals due to his off-field actions.
Ishant Sharma
Ishant Sharma, a potent member of India’s speed battery, made his debut on the international stage in 2008 when he replaced Ricky Ponting. Ishant was dropped from the limited-overs lineup even though he remained a member of India’s Test team. Sharma stole the show in 2015 after becoming embroiled in an off-field incident. The fast bowler was observed drinking alcohol at a gathering held at one of Sydney’s clubs. He was spotted with Suresh Raina and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, his teammates. Social media was inundated with the photograph when it went viral.
