Led by Charith Asalanka, the team maintained their winning momentum and climbed to second place in Group B.

Chasing a modest target of 140, Sri Lanka’s openers laid a solid foundation. Pathum Nissanka scored a well-crafted 50, while Kamil Mishara remained unbeaten on 46*, guiding the team to a smooth win with their composed innings.

Earlier, Sri Lanka opted to bowl after winning the toss, and their bowlers struck early. Bangladesh suffered a major setback, losing openers Tanzid Hasan and Parvez Hossain Emon for ducks within the first two overs. Key batters Towhid Hridoy (8) and Mahedi Hasan (9) also fell cheaply, leaving Bangladesh struggling at 53/5 in ten overs.

However, Jaker Ali (41) and Shamim Hossain (42*) staged a valiant fightback with an unbeaten 86-run partnership, taking Bangladesh to a total of 139/5. For Sri Lanka, Wanindu Hasaranga led the bowling effort with two wickets, while Nuwan Thushara and Dushmantha Chameera claimed one wicket each.

Litton Das, with 28 runs in the latest match, has emerged as the leading run-scorer in Asia Cup 2025, totaling 87 runs. He is followed by Afghanistan’s Sediqullah Atal (73) and Pakistan’s Mohammad Haris (66). Afghanistan all-rounder Azamatullah Omarzai and Hong Kong’s Babar Hayat share the fourth and fifth positions, each with 53 runs.
