Shubman Gill’s blood test report released; set to visit BCCI’s CoE this week for fitness test before Asia Cup 2025

Shubman Gill has been named India’s vice-captain for the Asia Cup 2025. The India T20I deputy is expected to report to the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) this week for fitness assessments ahead of the tournament. As per The Times of India, Shubman Gill recently underwent blood tests, with results coming back normal—a positive sign for the team.

Currently based in Mohali, Shubman Gill is close to completing his recovery but will miss the opening round of the Duleep Trophy 2025 due to illness. He was originally slated to captain North Zone in their first match, but with his absence, vice-captain Ankit Kumar will step in as skipper.

In recent weeks, a number of contracted Indian cricketers have visited the Centre of Excellence (CoE) for fitness assessments. Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, and Sai Sudharsan have already undergone tests, while pacer Mohammed Siraj is expected to arrive in Bengaluru shortly.

Nitish Kumar Reddy, who suffered a knee injury during the England tour, is currently rehabilitating at the CoE and will require more time to regain full match fitness. Shubman Gill, Earlier this month, Hardik Pandya also underwent an assessment at the facility and is now training in Baroda.

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant has had his plaster removed and will soon begin rehabilitation for his foot injury at the BCCI’s facility.

Shubman Gill: Looking ahead, India will kick off their Asia Cup 2025 campaign on September 10, with the team scheduled to depart for the UAE on September 4. Suryakumar Yadav will lead the side in the eight-team tournament.
