Gill Quashes Rift Rumours as MI Knock Out GT in IPL 2025 Eliminator

Shubman Gill dismissed speculation of a fallout with Hardik Pandya on Saturday, a day after Gujarat Titans (GT) were eliminated from IPL 2025 by Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Eliminator clash in New Chandigarh. The rumour mill had gone into overdrive after a seemingly tense moment at the toss and Pandya’s animated celebration following Gill’s early dismissal.
Social media was quick to suggest a rift, stemming from Pandya’s high-profile move from GT to MI before the season. However, Gill swiftly addressed the buzz through a short Instagram story that read: “Nothing but love (Don’t believe everything you see on the internet),” putting speculation to rest. Hardik responded with a warm reply on his own story: “Always, Shubhu baby.” The public exchange effectively ended rumours of any friction between the two former teammates.

While the off-field moment stole attention, the match itself showcased MI’s dominance. Batting first, the five-time champions racked up a daunting 228, driven by a vintage 81 off 50 balls from Rohit Sharma. Jonny Bairstow, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, and Hardik Pandya also contributed with brisk cameos.
. However, MI’s bowling at the death proved decisive. Jasprit Bumrah’s tight final over and key wicket of Sundar, along with Trent Boult’s double strike, ensured MI advanced to the next round.
MI to face PBKS

The victory sets up a high-stakes Qualifier 2 showdown between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings in Ahmedabad on June 1. The winner will advance to face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2025 final on June 3 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
