Suryakumar Yadav notched up his fifth half-century of the IPL 2025 season during the clash against Punjab Kings.
Suryakumar Yadav Breaks Sachin Tendulkar’s Record in Career-Best IPL Season

For the second time in his IPL career, Suryakumar Yadav has crossed the 600-run mark in a single season. The first instance came in 2023 when Mumbai Indians made it to Qualifier 2. Now, in IPL 2025, with MI securing another playoff berth, Suryakumar has delivered a season to remember—surpassing the legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s long-standing franchise record.
During Mumbai’s final league match against Punjab Kings at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, the India T20I skipper scored his fifth fifty of the season, taking his tally to 640 runs in 14 games at a blistering strike rate of 168.54. In the process, he broke Tendulkar’s 15-year-old record of 618 runs in the 2010 season, becoming the highest individual run-scorer for MI in a single IPL campaign.
MI, PBKS eye top two finish

Four teams—Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Mumbai Indians, and Punjab Kings—have already sealed their playoff spots in IPL 2025. However, the final league games will determine their exact positions on the points table.
Currently placed second with 17 points, Punjab Kings face a tense scenario. A loss against Mumbai Indians could drop them to third or even fourth, forcing them into the Eliminator on May 30 instead of the more advantageous Qualifier 1.
For a top-two finish, Shreyas Iyer’s side not only must defeat a strong MI lineup, but also rely on Gujarat Titans (18 points) and RCB (17 points) to lose their final matches. Having already stumbled against Delhi Capitals, PBKS are in a do-or-die situation.
