Cricketers Who Won Both ICC Test & Cricketer of the Year in the Same Year

The ICC Awards are presented annually by the International Cricket Council (ICC) to recognize the top-performing male and female cricketers in all three formats, as well as the best overall player across formats.

A select few cricketers have achieved the rare feat of winning both the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year and the ICC Cricketer of the Year awards in the same year, showcasing their dominance in Test cricket and across formats.

1. Rahul Dravid – 2004

Rahul Dravid became the first-ever recipient of the ICC Cricketer of the Year award in 2004. He also clinched the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year honor in the same ceremony.

During the nomination period, Dravid delivered stellar performances in the 2003-04 season, amassing 1,241 runs in nine Tests and 960 runs in 30 ODIs. His contributions included four centuries and 12 half-centuries.

South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis shared the ICC Cricketer of the Year 2005 award with England’s Andrew Flintoff while also securing the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year title.

Between August 4, 2011, and August 6, 2012, Sangakkara emerged as the highest Test run-scorer, the second-highest ODI scorer, and the leading run-getter across formats. He notched up eight centuries and averaged 60 in Test cricket during this period.

Kohli amassed 1,322 runs in 13 Tests at an average of 55, with five centuries, and dominated ODIs with 1,202 runs at an incredible average of 133, including six centuries. He ended the year as the No. 1 ranked batsman in both Test and ODI cricket.

Bumrah also played a pivotal role in India’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 triumph, securing 15 wickets at an astounding average of 8.26 and maintaining an economy rate of just 4.17.
