Shubman Gill is serving as the vice-captain of India for the Asia Cup 2025. Asia Cup: According to the Times of India, Gill appeared to be in discomfort after the impact and walked off the nets, attended immediately by the team physiotherapist. He was seen sitting on an ice box, holding his injured hand.

The incident drew the attention of the entire support staff, with head coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Suryakumar Yadav checking on him. Opener Abhishek Sharma was also seen assisting while the physio monitored the injury closely. In a reassuring turn, the right-hander returned to training after some time, easing concerns ahead of the high-profile encounter.

Gill has been entrusted with the opening spot for India in the tournament alongside Abhishek Sharma. In their last match against the UAE, the pair put together a 48-run opening partnership. Gill’s composed knock helped India secure a dominant nine-wicket victory.

India’s bowlers were equally impressive, dismissing the UAE for just 57 runs in the first innings. Kuldeep Yadav and Shivam Dube were the standout performers with four and three wickets respectively, earning Yadav the Player of the Match award.

Asia Cup: Looking ahead, India faces a stern test against Pakistan. Led by Salman Agha, Pakistan began their campaign with a commanding 93-run win over Oman. Posting 160/7 in their innings, the Men in Green then bowled out Oman for a mere 67 runs.

In Asia Cup 2025, India, Pakistan, the UAE, and Oman are placed in Group A. The top two teams from this group will advance to the Super Four stage.
