Pandya has been a vital cog in India’s limited-overs side, especially contributing significantly to India’s T20 World Cup 2024 and ICC Champions Trophy 2025 wins. After the conclusion of IPL 2025, the Mumbai Indians captain took a short break before resuming training in Mumbai from mid-July.
According to a Times of India report, Hardik Pandya will undergo a fitness assessment at the NCA, where several other Indian players have either already completed their tests or are in line to do so ahead of the tournament.

Hardik Pandya’s return a priority for the Indian team management
The 31-year-old’s return to full fitness is a priority for the Indian team management. He last played for the Indian team during the Champions Trophy, where he performed well with both bat and ball. The upcoming fitness test to be held in Bengaluru will include physical conditioning tests, strength tests and match readiness assessments under the supervision of the BCCI’s medical and physiotherapy team.
Shreyas Iyer has completed fitness test
Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer has completed his fitness test between July 27 and 29 and his possible return is being considered. The right-handed batsman last played a T20 match in December 2023 and performed brilliantly in the IPL 2025 season, leading Punjab Kings to the final. It is worth noting that Iyer was out of the race for the England Test series, but is hoping to make a comeback in T20.
Apart from this, India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav is also trying to get fully fit after sports hernia surgery in June. By spending extra time at the NCA, he is trying to be fully prepared for the Asia Cup. It is worth noting that the selectors are expected to announce the preliminary team soon.
