Having already retired from T20Is after that World Cup win, Rohit now plays only in the ODI format. He continues to serve as India’s ODI captain and is set to lead the team in the upcoming series against Australia in October.

Rohit Sharma injury woes extended into the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season as well. He featured for the Mumbai Indians (MI) mainly as an Impact Player, especially in the early stages of the tournament. Despite a slow start, he eventually found form and delivered a solid performance.
