IPL 2025: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will play against big rivals Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) two times each in the IPL 2025 league stage. The full schedule was announced on Sunday, February 16.
CSK, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, will start their season at home against Mumbai Indians on March 23. This match will be in the evening on the second day of the tournament, which has two games. They will play against MI again in Mumbai on April 20. MI captain Hardik Pandya will not play in the first match because he got a one-match ban for slow overrate three times in IPL 2024.
CSK will play four of their first six games at home. Their second match will be against RCB at home on March 28. The return match in Bengaluru will be on May 3. The IPL 2025 schedule follows the same format as previous seasons, where 10 teams are divided into two groups.
Group 1: KKR, RCB, RR, CSK, and PBKS are in one team.
Group 2: SRH, DC, GT, MI, and LSG are in another team.
Each team will play against all the other teams in their group and one team from the other group (based on seeding) twice. They will also play against the other four teams from the opposite group once, making a total of 14 league matches.
According to E2bangla, the tournament will start on March 22. Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders will host RCB at Eden Gardens. The final will also be held there on May 25, along with Qualifier 2 on May 23. Qualifier 1 (May 20) and the Eliminator (May 21) will take place at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, last season’s runners-up, will begin their campaign at home on March 23 in an afternoon match against Rajasthan Royals. Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans will also play their first matches at home, facing Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings, respectively, after the opening weekend.
This season, apart from the 10 usual venues (Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Mullanpur, Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Jaipur), matches will also be played in Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, and Dharamsala.
Rajasthan Royals will play in Guwahati, their second home venue, on March 26 and 30. They will face Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings in evening matches there.
Delhi Capitals will play their first two home games in Visakhapatnam, against Lucknow Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Meanwhile, Punjab Kings will play three home matches in Dharamsala, one more than last season, against LSG, DC, and MI in the second half of the league stage.
IPL 2025 will have 74 matches over 65 days, including 12 double-headers. RR, DC, LSG, and GT will each play three afternoon matches, while the other six teams will play two afternoon games each.
