Wasim Raja | 1952-2006 (Pakistan)
Wasim Raja was a left-handed batsman from Pakistan and the brother of commentator Ramiz Raja. He played in 57 Tests and 54 one-day internationals between 1973-85. Raja died in August 2006 from a cardiac arrest while playing for the Surrey over-50s team in England.
Philip Hughes | 1988-2014 (Australia)
Philip Hughes was a 25-year-old left-handed batsman from Australia. In November 2014, he was hit on the neck by a ball during a Sheffield Shield match and collapsed. He was taken to the hospital, where it was found he had a fractured skull and brain bleeding. Despite medical efforts, Hughes died two days later.
Richard Beaumont | 1979-2012 (England)
On August 5, 2012, English club cricketer Richard Beaumont had just taken five wickets for his team. After the game, he suffered a stroke and collapsed. He was taken to Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Raman Lamba | 1960-1988 (India)
Raman Lamba was an Indian cricketer who played in 4 Tests and 32 ODIs between 1986-89. He was hit on the head while fielding without a helmet during a club match in Dhaka. Lamba fell into a coma and died three days later.
Darryn Randall | 1980-2013 (South Africa)
Darryn Randall was a South African cricketer. In October 2013, he was hit on the head by a ball during a match in Eastern Cape. Randall died instantly from the impact.
Ian Folley | 1963-1993 (England)
Ian Folley was an English cricketer who was hit under the eye by a ball during a match in 1993. He was taken to the hospital for surgery but suffered a fatal heart attack under anesthesia.
Zulfiqar Bhatti | 1991-2013 (Pakistan)
Zulfiqar Bhatti, a club cricketer from Pakistan, was hit on the chest by a ball while attempting a shot in December 2013. He was taken to a local hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Alcwyn Jenkins | 1937-2009 (England)
Alcwyn Jenkins, a 72-year-old English umpire, was accidentally hit on the head by a throw from a fielder in 2009. The injury was fatal.
